How to protect strawberries from weevils: a preemptive strike

The raspberry-strawberry weevil has received the title of strawberry pest No. 1 among summer residents.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said that the beetle can be detected by drying and falling buds, in which the female weevil lays an egg.

Since an attack by flower beetles can deprive you of 90% of your harvest, you should take preventive measures in advance to prevent the beetle from appearing in your garden beds.

Remember: do not plant strawberries, raspberries and blackberries nearby - the weevil, having destroyed the strawberry plant, will move to neighboring plantings.

It would be a good idea to plant garlic between the strawberry bushes. Its aroma is not to the liking of many insects, including the weevil.

Do not forget to treat strawberry beds using one of the following preparations: "Alatar", "Batrider", "Taran", "Fufanon-Nova".

The products should be used according to the instructions. The best time for treatment is late April or early May.

You can also use folk recipes, for example, an infusion of hot pepper, tansy or garlic. They have only one drawback - the beds will have to be processed daily for 25-30 days.
