The larvae that the onion fly lays in beds with onions, leeks or garlic can cause significant damage to the crop.

As the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said, many gardeners from year to year use proven folk methods that allow them to scare away pests from plantings.

Among them is the use of ammonium carbonate salt. It contains ammonium bicarbonate, ammonium bicarbonate/hydrogen carbonate.

To prepare a spraying agent, dissolve 60-80 g of fertilizer in 10 liters of water.

Another option is mothballs with sand.

You will need 8-10 mothballs ground into powder and mixed with sand. You will need about half a bucket of the latter.

The mixture should be distributed over the beds during the first and second summer of the onion fly.

Finally, sawdust with tar can be used for this purpose. First, wood shavings must be mixed with water until a paste is obtained, and then birch tar must be added to the resulting substance.

Mix the mixture again and spread it on the beds where the onions grow.
