There is a lot of trouble with seedlings of nightshades, which in addition to tomatoes, potatoes and eggplants also include peppers.
We will tell you what you need to know about growing this crop, in addition to the fact that pepper is a representative of late-ripening vegetables. Here's how to grow seedlings.
A little about the timing
Considering that pepper is a late-ripening crop, it is planted in beds or in a greenhouse as seedlings. And sowing seeds for seedlings begins at the end of February. You can’t do without preliminary soil preparation.
How to prepare the soil
First, the mixture must be disinfected by freezing or treating with a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate. If you prepare the mixture yourself, then use garden soil with peat soil (1:1), and add wood ash as fertilizer.
A little about sowing
Pepper seeds are placed in the prepared soil at a depth of 1-1.5 cm. It is most convenient to make holes with a pencil.
There should be at least 3-5 cm between plantings so that there is no need to pick. Then the seeds are sprinkled with soil, watered with warm water and covered with film.
The film is removed after the shoots appear; if you are late, the shoots will overgrow and be weak. The seedlings are left in a warm and light place at a temperature of 18-20 degrees Celsius.
Top dressing
1st - 2 weeks after emergence (nitrogen is added - 1 tbsp. urea per 10 liters of water),
2nd - the next one in 2-3 weeks using the same method.
3rd - 4 days before transplanting (1 tbsp. of urea and superphosphate per 10 liters of water).
