Like other insect pests, the whitefly is a small but quite prolific creature that can cause significant damage to a garden.

Fighting it takes a lot of time, and there is no way to do it without a systematic approach. We will tell you about methods of fighting it that are suitable for the entire season.

Insecticides

The difficulty is that you can't use just one favorite preparation all the time. Insects get used to it and the treatment becomes useless. It is important to remember that the duration of action of each preparation is different and varies from 10 to 60 days.

Biopreparations

Many biological preparations act no worse than insecticides and do not even cause addiction in pests, acting with the same effect at any stage. This can be the drug "Biovert", "Entolek", "Fitoverm", "Aktofit", etc. It should be remembered that the treatments are carried out every 7-10 days - this corresponds to the stages of the emergence of new offspring.

Repellents

They only drive the pest out of the greenhouse due to the unpleasant smell. Some attract natural enemies of whitefly - ladybugs. You can buy the drug in the store, you can prepare a decoction of calendula flowers in milk (1 liter of milk, 50 g of dry flowers, boil for 10-15 minutes and insist, then dilute in 1 liter of water).

Traps

Sticky traps are mainly used. The more traps, the more noticeable the effect. The ideal quantity is considered to be one trap per linear meter of the bed.

Folk remedies

1. A soap solution helps when detecting the pest's clutches on the back of leaves. The solution should be concentrated - 6 parts soap to one part water. This method is ineffective and tedious, since the clutches have to be practically washed away.

2. Fumigation. Can only be used in a closed space, such as a greenhouse. A mosquito fumigator, tobacco smoke or similar should be left overnight, but then the greenhouse should be ventilated.

3. Light. Leaving a regular incandescent light bulb on overnight can help deal with the pest, which by nature is inclined to fly towards the light and get burned on the hot surface.
