Why raspberries don't grow: even experienced gardeners don't know about these reasons

It is not always the gardener’s fault if the raspberry does not produce new shoots.

There are many reasons that are beyond the gardener's control. They often do their best, but it is not enough.

Raspberries are criticized for two reasons: either they take over the entire area, abundantly spreading shoots, or they do not produce any at all.

Why raspberries don't grow

1. Many summer residents forget that raspberries bear fruit well for up to 7-10 years. After that, the bushes need to be renewed.

But gardeners try to “squeeze” the maximum out of plants, so they keep the same bushes on the plot for 30-40 years.

Therefore, the main reason is related to the degeneration of the plant. Such bushes bear fruit poorly and do not produce shoots.

2. The second reason is related to a viral disease. The pathogen could have entered with mulch or been brought in some other way. Some diseases cause raspberries to lose the ability to produce shoots.

3. Many summer residents believe that raspberries love moisture and consider them a marsh plant. This is true, but only half.

Raspberry does not like stagnant water. If abundant accumulation of moisture lasts more than 2 hours, the process of dying off of the active part of the root system begins.

A slow process of plant decline begins, which is expressed, among other things, in the absence of new shoots.
