10.01.2023 02:30

When owners plant garlic in the winter, they hope to get a large harvest of garlic heads next year.

However, to do this, you must first follow some simple rules when planting it in the ground in the fall.

First, select the largest and healthiest heads of garlic from the current harvest, which will contain 4-5 large cloves, and sort them out separately.

Then place them in a solution of potassium permanganate or wood ash for 30 minutes.

You can also dip garlic cloves in a salt solution for a couple of minutes, dissolving 6 tablespoons of the solution in 10 liters of water, and then hold them for 1 minute in a copper sulfate solution, taking 30 grams of the solution per 10 liters of water.

Timing of planting winter garlic

It is important to plant garlic before frost sets in.

Plant the cloves at a distance of 15 cm from each other, bottom down, and bury them a little into the ground.

Before planting, make furrows 10 cm deep, and after planting, fill them with soil and compact them with mulch.

And after a few weeks, sprinkle the area with peat mixed with humus.
