One mistake, which may seem insignificant, leads to unpleasant consequences.

Cherry pruning is an important and responsible task, on which the harvest of the next year depends.

The procedure is not complicated if you know a few simple rules.

To begin with, experienced gardeners recommend getting rid of frozen or rodent-damaged branches. They will no longer be useful, but there is a chance of disease developing.

Next, remove all shoots between the crown tiers. It is recommended to leave no more than 6 branches in one tier. The distance between them should be approximately 15 cm.

The next step is to remove excess shoots. Often they are located very close to the branches, but do not have branches.

The main task of pruning is to help the tree distribute nutrients correctly so that the plant has enough resources to form fruits.

In the process of work, summer residents recommend cutting off about a third of the growth. For the tree, this is not too critical, but at the same time, the cherry does not waste resources in vain, but directs them to the development of berries.
