Experienced gardeners have named the most successful combination of vegetables for organizing their long-term storage.
Thanks to one root vegetable, potatoes stay fresh longer, do not rot or sprout.
Often, summer residents collect an impressive harvest or buy for future use, so there is often not enough space in the cellar. To fit everything, vegetables are packed as tightly as possible.
In such cases, summer residents often make a mistake. They arrange vegetables and fruits spontaneously, without any system. They do not even realize that some fruits do not “neighbor” well with each other.
At the same time, there is a vegetable next to which potatoes will stay fresh for a very long time. We are talking about beets, which draw out excess moisture. The root vegetable will retain its juiciness, and its "neighbor" will not rot or sprout prematurely.
But summer residents warned that beets should be carefully examined before storage. Damaged fruits should not be stored. There should be no mold on them. Otherwise, both beets and potatoes will spoil.
