For health and beauty, any indoor flower needs care, an integral part of which is watering.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the main mistakes in watering that gardeners make and which are fraught with big troubles.

1. In order to quench the thirst of your “green pets”, you cannot use cold water – otherwise you will have to face problems with the condition of your indoor plants.

2. Do not water the soil too often - excess moisture can lead to root rot, so it is important to let the soil dry out between waterings. Experienced gardeners know: sometimes it is better to under-water than over-water.

3. It would be a mistake to water the plants whenever you feel like it. There is a best time to water, and that is in the morning, so that the excess water can dry out during the day.

4. Chlorine and other chemicals can damage plant roots, so use settled water.

5. Do not water the soil surface only. Water must penetrate into the deep layers of the soil – only there can it be effectively absorbed by the plant roots.

6. The plants' need for water depends on the room temperature: in cold conditions, watering should be done less frequently.

7. Finally, consider the type of plant, as they all have different needs: for example, cacti and succulents require less water than ferns.
