There is very little time left before the start of the summer cottage off-season: December is just around the corner.
However, this does not mean that gardeners and vegetable growers will have nothing to do.
The first month of winter is the time that can be devoted to preparing the soil mixture for seedlings.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh recommends creating this mass using the formula "1-2-1".
What does the formula "1-2-1" mean?
The numbers indicate the ratio of the components of the soil mixture: “one part, two parts, one part”.
So, the mass should contain the following components:
- turf soil (1 part);
- humus (2 parts);
- sand (1 part).
Maintaining this ratio is a guarantee of obtaining a soil mixture that is ideal for young plants.
The mass should be prepared in December.
Of course, the start of using this mixture will be in the second half of winter: usually summer residents begin to grow seedlings in February.
For reference
Sand is a loose sedimentary rock, as well as an artificial material consisting of rock grains.
