What is pressure control and how does it work?

At work, the pressures can be overwhelming for everyone, especially for bosses, and this pressure forces them to go beyond their authority and use tactics that many would consider unethical.

Managing the workforce using the threat of punishment negatively affects talented subordinates.

Mahatma Gandhi once said about the strategy of ruling by threat of punishment this way: “Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent than power based on fear.”

However, many companies tend to make the same mistakes and put the company's reputation at risk.

Modern managers also often use force management, because they feel that this style of management will guarantee them success. But in reality, this success is short-lived.

In the long run, such an organization loses much more.

Such organizations cannot retain the best specialists. Fear creates an atmosphere of suspicion and anger, which is not normal for any organization.

Even if people agree to work under threat of punishment, it will only be until such time as they can find another opportunity.

The most destructive consequences of management under threat of punishment are: lack of interest, feeling of disappointment among employees, finishing work only for the sake of formality, constant criticism of the company, feeling of anxiety, etc.

This cruel policy leads companies to lose good employees, high turnover, lawsuits and even bankruptcy.

Fear breeds shortsightedness, preventing leaders from predicting and planning for future events. Subordinates are so busy guessing their bosses' desires that they forget about the need to take responsibility for their actions.

Their creativity is stifled and they follow instructions blindly. Employees simply engage in finger-pointing and shifting responsibility for their failures onto other people's shoulders.

In the end, such a policy of terror leads to the collapse of the company. Therefore, it is always necessary to be able to balance between two extremes: to be able to give freedom to your subordinates, releasing their creative energy and to be able to punish for misdeeds.

Earlier I talked about how to decide to change jobs.
