Russian President Vladimir Putin said the West is losing the competitive battle in the energy sector.
The Russian leader made this statement on September 26 at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week.

The Russian President recalled that historically it turned out that the main elements of the global energy market infrastructure ended up in the hands of Western states.
The West believed, Putin continued, that it could close access to these services to undesirable countries and thereby force them out of the market.
The motive is obvious: the West does not want competition because it cannot cope with it, the head of the Russian state said.
However, the Russian president added, Western countries only spurred the development of alternative solutions.
