To ensure that the New Year holidays are not marred by gastrointestinal problems, you need to follow food safety rules.
Experts from the Russian Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health told us how to avoid poisoning on New Year's.
How to Avoid Getting Poisoned on New Year's Eve
First of all, do not buy products for the New Year's table in unauthorized places of sale/from random people.
Home-canned food – mushrooms, fish, meat – is especially dangerous.
Consuming such canned food can result in serious poisoning and even botulism.
When buying perishable products, pay attention to the expiration date.
You should also pay attention to the storage conditions of products in the store.
When preparing holiday dishes, it is necessary to observe hygiene rules.
Wash your hands before and after preparing food, and use separate knives and cutting boards for raw meat and vegetables.
Do not store cooked and raw foods on the same shelf in the refrigerator.
Vegetables, fruits, and greens should be thoroughly washed under hot running water.
Any leftover holiday dishes should be put in the refrigerator as soon as possible, the Russian Center for Hygiene and Health Protection added.
