Vera Serezhina, a medical expert at the medical company LabQuest, told us what is harmful in this salad and how to make it healthier.

The high fat and salt content in the traditional version of Olivier salad can lead to an exacerbation of chronic diseases, in particular gastritis and pancreatitis.

People with cardiovascular, kidney and liver diseases should be especially careful with this salad. Olivier is also contraindicated for people with excess weight.

To make this dish healthier, replace the sausage with boiled chicken/turkey, which has less fat and salt.

Potatoes should be replaced with avocado. This product contains healthy fats that improve the condition of the heart and blood vessels.

It is recommended to replace pickles with fresh ones, and mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.

But these measures will not help if you consume Olivier salad in excess, the doctor clarified.

She recommended limiting the portion to 150-200 grams.

And take into account the presence of other dishes on the New Year's table, added Serezhkina.

She also advised to dress the Olivier just before serving. The leftovers of the salad can only be stored in the refrigerator and for no longer than 12 hours.
