Many people consider curtains in the kitchen to be an unnecessary element, and, admittedly, they are right – with just one caveat: we are not talking about all textiles, but only about some of their types, which are difficult to care for.
As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino , explains, curtains, for example, can be very beautiful and perfectly complement the interior, but they are not very practical.
This is because the fabric quickly absorbs odors, and if the window is located near the stove, greasy stains may appear on it.
Therefore, you will have to wash your curtains regularly, perhaps even once a month or more often.
If you are still sure that you want to use curtains in your kitchen, avoid velvet, silk and linen. These fabrics are very capricious in care and are difficult to iron.
It is also worth "ignoring" soft textile panels on the walls. They look good in the bedroom or living room, but they create problems in the kitchen. These panels are difficult to clean, and special products are needed to care for them.
How to "cover" the windows if, as you already understand, long curtains to the floor are impractical? The best option for the kitchen are considered to be Roman or roller blinds.
The material can be either natural, such as cotton, or synthetic, such as polyester.
If you want to decorate your walls, choose washable wallpaper instead of soft panels.
You can also accent one wall using regular wallpaper, but only if the dining area is as far away from the “dangerous” zones as possible.
