Upholstered furniture is an important element of the interior, but it has one significant drawback - it quickly sags.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino explained what should not be done to prevent furniture from becoming unusable ahead of time.
Avoid excess moisture
Be honest, have you ever spilled tea while sitting on a soft sofa in front of the TV? This situation is not so rare, so it is important to know what to do if you find yourself in such a situation.
First of all, you need to make sure that no liquid remains inside the seat, as this can lead to damage to the material, loss of elasticity of the foam and rusting of the springs due to high humidity.
The above, of course, will over time negatively affect the density of the seat and cause the appearance of unsightly dents, which not only spoil the appearance of the furniture, but also worsen comfort.
Do not use alcohol to clean furniture.
You can find many different life hacks on the Internet about how to clean a sofa, remove stains, hair, etc. However, not all of these methods are effective and safe for furniture.
For example, using alcohol-based products is not recommended if the seat is made of foam rubber, as alcohol can greatly soften the upholstery and damage its structure. As a result, dents will form on the seat in the future.
Ditch the steam generator
Preventing dents on upholstered furniture is not as difficult as it may seem. One of the main tips is not to use a steam generator or other devices that work on the same principle.
When steam penetrates into a sofa or chair, it creates excess moisture, which can either evaporate or stagnate for a long time. In the latter case, the filler material deteriorates, loses elasticity, and the surface becomes uneven, which leads to dents.
