Much of the property of Soviet citizens is of interest to modern society. However, not all of it is antiques that have gathered dust on the mezzanine.

On the eve of the New Year holidays, it's time to finally figure out what's holding you back from moving forward. And that includes Christmas tree decorations.

Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" in the field of design and interior, told us which Soviet New Year's decorations can hardly be called antiques.

Tinsel and rain

As they say, there is plenty of this stuff now. There is no point in keeping the tinsel from the USSR, unless it is new and in the original packaging.

Artificial Christmas trees

Artificial plastic Christmas trees come in different varieties and you can still find a suitable one. But the aluminum Christmas tree that appeared in the 1960s and 1970s is some kind of nonsense.

Garlands

The old Soviet garlands may look cute, but they might catch fire.

Modern products can be found in exactly the same shape, but they consume less electricity and are safer.
