Renovating a balcony, if the room cannot boast of impressive dimensions, can seem like real torture.

The expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, decided to ease the suffering of everyone who found themselves in a similar situation, and listed the main mistakes that should be avoided when renovating a small balcony.

1. Perhaps the most common mistake is trying to fit everything into the room at once – an office, a dining room, and a sitting area. Instead, decide how exactly you are going to use the balcony – as a storage space, a library, or for other purposes.

2. Don't get hung up on white - although light shades can visually expand space, you shouldn't give up on bright or dark tones. Since a balcony is a non-residential space, don't worry that you'll soon get tired of this design.

3. Don't forget about ergonomics. After the renovation, the balcony should be not only beautiful, but also comfortable. A drawing made at the planning stage will help you achieve this.

4. Another mistake to beware of is ignoring the balcony. What does this mean? For example, your apartment does not have a full-fledged play area for children, and instead of equipping one on the loggia, you simply put a table and a couple of chairs here, without using its functionality to its full potential.

5. Let's talk about furniture. We agree that for a small balcony, furniture should be compact, but comfort should not be forgotten. It is better to spend more time and still find a good solution.

6. What else can go wrong? You definitely won’t be able to fully use the balcony if you don’t take care of its lighting. If you decide not to run the wiring to the balcony, buy battery-powered lamps.

7. Finally, the last, seventh mistake can be made not only when decorating a balcony, but also other rooms, the walls of which remain unused. Here you can place shelves, hooks and other things that will solve the problem of storing necessary little things.
