It is believed that curtains are the crowning glory of a renovated interior. After renovation, they are hung last of all, when all the trash and dust have been removed.
It would be a shame to discover at a special moment that the chosen textiles absolutely do not want to fit into the interior.
Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" in the field of design and interior, told what could go wrong when choosing curtains.
Mistake #1: Fabric Density
You need to focus on the quality of the material and density. It is also important to decide on the model of the cornice (wall or ceiling) and even hang it before buying curtains.
Mistake #2: Color and Pattern
Curtains should match home textiles, but should not blend in with the walls.
Instead of a colorful pattern, it would be better to choose a calm and monochromatic model, but here you need to take into account the upholstery of the furniture. And for a monochrome interior, choose bright curtains.
Mistake #3: Lack of light
It is a good idea to arrange a blackout in the hot summer. But in winter, especially in an apartment with windows facing north or sheltered from the sun by trees, it is a bad option.
Mistake #4: Width and Length
Curtains should not lie on the floor - they will quickly get dirty. Ideally, there should be one centimeter between the floor and the fabric.
It is also important to choose the width of the curtains so that they can cover the window if necessary.
Mistake #5: Tulle and Curtains
And the last point is a harmonious combination of a light curtain with a thick fabric. In some cases, one curtain will be enough.
