But there are mistakes that even in this case need to be eliminated at the renovation stage, otherwise it will not be possible to achieve harmony in the space.

Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" in the field of design and interior, told us which mistakes it is advisable to avoid.

Curtains

It is necessary to correctly calculate the length and width of the curtains. Do not forget about the cornice. If it hangs only above the window, then it should be higher and wider than the window opening by 15 cm.

If the distance from the window to the corner is less than a meter, then the cornice and curtains should reach the corner.

Proportions

It's simpler here. The size of the furniture should match the size of the room. This means that in a cramped one-room apartment, a bulky corner sofa will be out of place.

You also need to remember about the passages between furniture – they should not be less than 90 cm.

Carpet

The carpet on the floor should be selected in such a way that the front legs of the sofa or armchairs stand on it.

The carpet on the wall should also correspond to the size of the furniture in the room and take up no more than 20% of the wall area.

Light

Another common mistake is lighting. Often, only ceiling lights are used.

But it is better to provide several light sources at different levels in one room.

In addition, color temperature is important. For living spaces, it is recommended to choose bulbs with a rating of 3000-3500 K.
