Even if the rooms in your apartment have an impressive area, this is by no means a guarantee that they will be spacious.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino , spoke about the mistakes that can result in such a paradox.
1. "The Wrong Carpet"
In an attempt to save money, more and more people choose small-sized carpets for interior design, and make a grave mistake. As a result, the walls visually narrow and create a "dollhouse" effect.
Instead, the designer advises to follow the “inverse” rule: the smaller the area of the room, the larger the carpet.
2. Wrong curtains
It is hard to name anything more spectacular than curtains hanging from the ceiling to the floor. However, this solution also has significant disadvantages.
Firstly, curtains that are too long require careful maintenance, because they collect much more dust than regular curtains.
Secondly, such curtains visually make the room smaller, becoming the central element in the room and seeming to absorb all the rest of the space.
3. Bare or cluttered walls
A small area of the room is not a reason to leave the walls empty. But too much wall decor will also not reflect well on the interior.
Try to stick to the golden mean - sometimes a couple of posters hanging above the sofa are enough to bring integrity and harmony to the interior.
