Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" in the field of design and interior, told us what mistakes are most often made when decorating a living room.
1. Carpet
It's not about fashion, but about the size of the product. In a large room, a small rug will create an incomplete effect. And too large in a small room will make the room even smaller.
2. Arrangement
Avoid placing furniture along the walls. The more scattered the groups look, the easier the atmosphere will be perceived. The main thing is that the furniture does not clutter the passages.
3. Headsets
A ready-made furniture set can create the effect of a museum or exhibition hall. Such a room will be uncomfortable and uninviting. It is better to select interior items individually and according to your mood.
4. TV
If you can't do without it in the living room, then you need to place it at eye level. Many people hang equipment above dressers or fireplaces, much higher than this level, which is ergonomic, but inconvenient.
5. Style instead of comfort
Buying elegant furniture to emphasize the luxury of the decor can achieve the opposite effect. The sofa will be uncomfortable to sit on, not to mention lying down to rest.
6. Lighting
There should be a choice in lighting different zones and different levels. Starting from a chandelier and a floor lamp to wall sconces.
7. Bulky furniture
Furniture should be chosen not from what you like, but from what will fit well into the interior. It is important that after its placement in the room there is at least a little free space left.
