Interior design is a delicate matter and, according to experts, the impression can be ruined by just one inept combination of materials.

They are considered to be incompatible by nature, but this statement does not prevent mistakes from being made during repairs again and again. Here are the solutions that should be abandoned.

As soon as you finish the renovation, you will have to think about something again, if you do not take into account such delicate moments as the pattern and texture, shape and size.

1. Expensive and not so expensive

Having splurged on some expensive interior element, you shouldn’t patch up the hole in your family budget at the expense of the rest of the renovation. Such an unfortunate combination could be parquet and cheap plastic skirting boards or expensive wall tiles and cheap foam or PVC skirting boards.

And you certainly shouldn't mix handmade tiles with factory-made ones. Such eclecticism will cost you a lot later.

2. Follow the games

When it comes to wallpapering, laying laminate or tiles, this detail needs to be given close attention. The color and pattern on wallpaper from different batches often differ, and the tiles may also be different in size.

If you don't take this point into account, then in the finale you can find an unpleasant surprise against the general background.

3. Different materials, but so similar

This concerns finishing with two different materials with the same pattern. As a result, they both get lost against each other. To achieve the desired effect, one finishing material needs to win next to the other.
