In an effort to create a stylish and modern interior, apartment owners study glossy magazines, subscribe to blogs of famous designers and save photos of floor and wall coverings they like.
But sometimes they decide to save money, and it turns out to be a big mistake. It may seem that no one will pay attention to a cheap blanket, an inexpensive outlet or the lack of curtains on the windows.
However, it is precisely these details that often deprive a room of coziness. Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, told about the three most common of them.
Beaded Curtains
In Soviet times, it was popular to decorate doorways with curtains made of beads made of glass, wood or plastic. Due to a lack of funds, many people could not afford to install interior doors, so they had to look for alternatives.
However, those times are long gone, and now such curtains are considered a sign of bad taste. They also worsen the appearance of the room and create a feeling that the interior lacks coziness and is outdated.
Bare windows
Leaving windows without curtains and blinds is allowed, but only in exceptional situations – for example, if you have decorated your home in a Scandinavian style.
On the other hand, textiles are always about coziness, texture, textured details and bright accents. And a window that has been beautifully decorated provides a sense of security and privacy, which is especially important for residents of the first floors.
Multi-level curtains
The opposite of bare windows are lush curtains that lie on the floor and collect a lot of dust. They are only suitable for a castle, a museum or a large country house in a classic style. In other cases, they are inappropriate.
To make the room cozy, choose single-color curtains. Choose a color that contrasts with the shade of the walls to visually enlarge the window and make the room more spacious.
