Some foods should only be consumed hot, say nutrition experts.
We tell you which foods are healthier to eat warm and which are healthier to eat cold.
What should be eaten warm and what cold
It is healthier to eat protein products (eggs, meat, fish) hot, as they are better absorbed.
You should also eat some vegetables warm – carrots, cabbage, tomatoes.
Thermal processing of carrots and cabbage improves the absorption of nutrients from them.
When tomatoes are heat treated, the antioxidant lycopene is released, which protects cells from damage and slows the development of atherosclerosis.
It is healthier to eat boiled potatoes cold. This helps reduce the load on the pancreas.
Flax seeds and leafy vegetables should also be consumed cold.
For reference
Food is what is eaten, what is nourished by - any substance suitable for eating and drinking by living organisms to replenish energy reserves and the necessary ingredients for the normal course of chemical metabolic reactions.
