Due to concerns about the difficulty of peeling a pineapple, many people deny themselves the pleasure of buying this sweet and juicy fruit.

But don’t worry – there are several simple and quick ways that will help you peel a pineapple even without a knife.

How to Peel a Pineapple with a Knife

The first thing to do is to make sure the pineapple is ripe.

To do this, check its color and smell - a ripe fruit should have a bright yellow hue and a sweet aroma.

Rinse the pineapple under running water and dry with a towel to remove any dirt.

After this, cut off the top along with the leaves and the base of the pineapple.

Now place it upright on a cutting board. Using a knife, carefully peel the skin off, following the natural curves of the fruit, working from top to bottom.

Don't forget to remove the eyes - the little brown spots on the flesh. They are quite hard, which is why you won't be able to fully enjoy the pineapple flesh.

Workaround

If for some reason you don't want to use a knife, try an alternative method.

This time you will need to hold the pineapple by the leaves and turn the top clockwise.

Once you've removed the greens, tap the base of the pineapple on the counter.

Then turn it over to a horizontal position and begin to roll the fruit along the table, pressing lightly with your hands.

Almost done – all that’s left is to tap the base of the pineapple on the table one more time, and then you can try to separate the pineapple eyes with your fingers.

Special devices

For those looking for simpler methods, there are special devices such as slicers.

However, be careful with the vegetable peeler - it is only suitable for small and thin-skinned pineapples. If you handle it incorrectly, you can easily get hurt.
