Mustard's presence can transform any dish.

However, store-bought versions often have a sweetish note or are completely tasteless, so the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, advises making mustard yourself.

The result is a spicy and flavorful sauce.

To make mustard you will need only two basic ingredients: mustard powder and brine left over from pickled vegetables (tomatoes or cucumbers).

Pour 5 teaspoons of mustard powder into a clean and dry jar with a screw cap.

Fill a separate container with 60-70 ml of brine and heat it in the microwave at maximum power for 30 seconds.

Pour the heated brine into the jar with mustard powder and mix thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is obtained. The consistency should be smooth and without lumps.

All that remains is to close the jar tightly with a lid and leave it in a warm place for 24 hours.

After a day of infusion, add a drop of vegetable oil and stir again. Now your mustard is ready to serve.

This homemade mustard will be a great addition to jellied meat, meat and fish dishes.

Prepared mustard should be stored in the refrigerator.

Please note that the best taste comes from freshly prepared food, so do not make too large portions.
