Home-salted mackerel: recipe for an exceptional marinade revealed

There is no need to think that the next year will be particularly successful if there is red fish and red caviar on the holiday table.

The same mackerel is almost as good as the salmon family, but it costs significantly less. You just need to salt it correctly.

Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova - a cook, fourth-category baker told how to prepare a marinade for salting mackerel.

You will need:

  • mackerel 500 gr;
  • onion 1 pc;
  • salt 2 tsp;
  • sugar 1 tsp;
  • bay leaf 2 pcs;
  • coriander 0.5 tsp;
  • black pepper 0.5 tsp;
  • water 200 ml;
  • vegetable oil 1 tbsp;
  • apple cider vinegar (6%) 1 tbsp.

How to cook

1. Without waiting for the mackerel to completely defrost, clean it and cut it into small pieces.

2. Then bring the water to a boil and add sugar, salt, bay leaf and coriander, pepper, vegetable oil and vinegar.

3. Keep the marinade on the fire for 5-10 minutes and turn it off. After that, it should cool down.

4. Peel the onion and cut it into half rings, then place it in a container for salting along with the fish.

5. Pour the cooled marinade over the preparation and put it in the refrigerator.

If you like lightly salted fish, it will be ready in 12 hours. Saltier mackerel will be ready the next day. Enjoy!
