Traditional fillings for Maslenitsa pancakes are not always healthy.
Endocrinologist and nutritionist Daria Khaikina warned about this.

Most often, jam, chocolate paste, condensed milk or just butter and sugar are used as filling for pancakes.
Such fillings increase the caloric content of pancakes several times. A tablespoon of condensed milk, for example, contains 120 calories, a tablespoon of chocolate paste contains 110-150 calories.
Butter and sugar add 100-150 calories, sweet jam – 50-80 calories.
Now imagine how many additives you use per serving, ” Khaikina noted.
According to her, pancakes with such fillings do not bring any benefits or long-lasting satiety.
In just a couple of hours you will feel hungry again, the expert warned.
Among the healthy alternatives she named the following: Greek yogurt with berries, cottage cheese with banana or honey, nut butter with banana, salmon with cream cheese, egg with herbs.
Fillings high in protein and fiber provide stable energy, says Khaikina.
And sugary ones only stimulate appetite, ” added the nutritionist.
