How much sugar can you add to tea
As reported by the Roskachestvo portal, Dutch scientists from Leiden University conducted a study on whether tea with sugar can cause serious illnesses and shorten life expectancy.
For 32 years, researchers followed 2,923 men aged 60 years and older.
Over 30 years, 2,581 study participants (88.3%) died. 1,677 of them did not add sugar to tea/coffee, 904 liked sweet tea.
Despite the difference of almost 2 times, scientists considered the difference statistically insignificant, attributing it to other factors – initial health status, lifestyle, etc.
One thing has become clear: if you drink tea/coffee with a small amount of sugar, there will most likely be no harm.
According to the study, the safe daily dose of sugar is 5 grams. This is about one teaspoon.
