Lecho is considered an alien recipe, but one that was very popular among Soviet housewives.
Like many other foreign culinary delights, it has undergone certain changes, but the preparation has not become any worse in taste.
Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova - a cook, fourth-class baker told how Soviet housewives prepared lecho for the winter.
You will need:
- tomatoes 4 kg;
- bell pepper 20 pcs;
- carrots 500 g;
- onions 500 g;
- 10 bay leaves;
- peppercorns 20 pcs;
- vegetable oil 100 g;
- sugar 1 tbsp;
- salt 1 tbsp.
How to cook
1. Tomatoes need to be cut and minced, peppers cut lengthwise into slices - there should be 8 pieces. Onions cut into rings, and carrots grate on a coarse grater.
2. Bring the tomato puree to a boil, then add the grated carrots and bring to a boil again. Then add the onion, boil and add the pepper.
3. Bring to a boil again and add the spices listed and vegetable oil.
4. Bring the vegetables to a boil and cook for 5-10 minutes, then pour into sterile jars, roll up and, once cooled, store away. Enjoy!
