It is generally accepted that potato dishes are prepared only as a side dish. But there are dishes that can be called main dishes.
For example, in Scotland it is customary to serve scones for breakfast. They can be eaten with either bacon or jam.
Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova , a cook and fourth-class baker, told how to make scones.
You will need:
- potatoes - 250 g;
- butter - 25 g;
- flour - 50 g;
- baking powder - 1/4 tsp.
How to cook
1. Potatoes need to be peeled and boiled until done or use ready-made mashed potatoes.
2. Then add flour mixed with baking powder and butter, knead the dough.
3. Divide the dough into two equal parts and form balls.
4. Form each part into a flat round cake up to 5 mm thick, cut into 4 parts, make holes on all sides and fry over medium heat in a preheated frying pan with butter.
Fry the flatbreads on both sides for 3-4 minutes. Serve with cream sauce and herbs, jam or even fish.
