As a rule, preparing millet for cooking includes standard procedures: removing debris and washing under running water until the liquid becomes clear.

But sometimes these "manipulations" are not enough. Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" cook Yulia Arkhipova told what to do so that millet groats do not taste bitter after cooking.

To begin with, let us note that this property – to taste bitter – is usually inherent in old cereals.

If you are not sure of the production date of the product you purchased, try soaking the washed millet in hot water for 5-10 minutes.

There is another way - even easier than the previous one, and it consists of pouring boiling water over the millet.

The proportions of cereal and water are also important for the taste of the finished dish.

So, if you want to get porridge that is not too overcooked and at the same time not crumbly, pour one glass of cereal with three glasses of water.

Are you planning to make a crumbly dish? For one glass of millet you will need 2 glasses of water, while a more viscous version is prepared from the same amount of cereal and 4 glasses of water.
