Summer is coming soon and will bring with it heat and swelter.
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova , this means that now is the time to freeze oranges.
And all because citrus fruits that have been in the freezer for some time produce a very tasty and refreshing drink - much better than those you can find on store shelves.
As you may have guessed, the first step is freezing the oranges.
This needs to be done, firstly, because freezing removes the bitterness, and secondly, because when frozen oranges are cut, all the juice remains inside.
Oranges should be kept in the freezer for at least 2-3 hours. You can leave them in the cold overnight.
Then cut the fruit into slices and grind it using a blender, food processor or meat grinder.
All that remains is to dissolve sugar and citric acid (use to taste) in a small amount of warm water and pour this mixture over the chopped oranges.
Stir and place the orange “concentrate” in the refrigerator for 1.5-2 hours to infuse.
After that, add the remaining water, stir and strain the juice through cheesecloth or a fine sieve. Pour the juice into bottles or jars and store in the refrigerator.
This orange juice should be drunk chilled.
