You should use only ripe and juicy tomatoes in cabbage rolls, and before you add them to the filling, don’t forget to remove the skin.
It's easy to do. First, make a cross-shaped cut on the tomatoes, then pour boiling water over them for a few seconds, and then pull the skin - it will easily separate from the pulp.
Now the tomatoes should be finely chopped and mixed with the ingredients that make up the filling.
But not just tomatoes: you can include other vegetables in the stuffing for cabbage rolls.
For example, you can add carrots, which should first be grated on a coarse grater and fried in vegetable oil until soft.
Onion is also suitable: it needs to be finely chopped and sautéed until golden brown.
Finally, you can use bell peppers. It should be cut into small cubes and fried (it can be together with onions and carrots).
