One of the popular meat dishes in Soviet canteens is beef stroganoff. Soviet housewives tried to keep up with the cooks of the public catering system, but in the kitchen it still didn’t turn out right.
However, beef side dish has become the most popular main course for lunch or dinner.
Expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" Yulia Arkhipova , a cook and fourth-class baker, told how to prepare this half-forgotten dish.
You will need:
- beef (tenderloin) - 0.5 kg;
- sour cream - 180 g;
- onions - 2 pcs.;
- flour - 2 tbsp;
- tomato paste - 2 tsp;
- salt and pepper to taste;
- vegetable oil.
How to cook
1. The meat needs to be cut into thin pieces, beaten with a hammer, and then cut into thin strips.
2. Peel the onion, chop finely and fry in a hot frying pan with vegetable oil.
3. When the onion turns golden, add the meat and fry, stirring constantly for 7-10 minutes.
4. Now you need to add flour, stir, pour in sour cream and tomato sauce, add salt and pepper to taste.
5. Leave the meat to simmer under the lid over medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
Meat was most often served with porridge or mashed potatoes.
