Modern housewives prefer to color eggs using food coloring or films.
However, the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, does not agree with this: she believes that every woman should know how to dye eggs in the traditional way that our grandmothers used.
A culinary expert has revealed how to dye eggs using onion skins.
You will need the following ingredients:
- eggs with white shells,
- 3 liters of water,
- 5-6 handfuls of onion peel,
- 1 tablespoon salt,
- vegetable oil.
First, rinse the onion skins and cover them with clean water, then add salt and bring the contents of the pan to a boil.
The husk should be infused for at least 2 hours, or better yet, overnight.
After the “simmering” time has come to an end, place the washed eggs in a saucepan, bring the infusion to a boil again and cook the eggs over low heat for about 30 minutes.
After the cooking process is complete, leave the eggs in their shells until they cool completely.
When the temperature drops to room temperature, rub the painted eggs with vegetable oil using a piece of cotton wool or a soft cloth - this is necessary for shine.
All that's left to do is place the Easter eggs on a plate covered with a paper towel so that the excess fat is absorbed into the paper.
