This forgotten recipe from the 90s is a great example of combining simple and affordable ingredients that together create a tender, juicy and delicious dish.
Although at first it may seem that the products do not go together, after cooking you will be surprised that this is not the case, notes chef Yulia Arkhipova, an expert at the online publication BelNovosti.
For the onion salad you will need the following ingredients:
- 100 g hard cheese;
- 3 eggs;
- 1-2 large onions (preferably salad varieties);
- mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste.
Put the eggs to boil, and in the meantime prepare the onion for the salad. Peel and cut the onion into thin half rings, then put it in a suitable container and pour boiling water over it. Leave the onion in the water for 3-5 minutes to get rid of the bitterness.
While the onion is soaking, cut the eggs as you like and grate the cheese on a fine grater.
The salad is assembled in layers. The first layer is onion, evenly distributed along the bottom of the salad bowl. Grease the layer with a small amount of mayonnaise so that the salad is not dry.
The next layer is eggs, slightly salted to improve the taste (you can also add pepper), and then use mayonnaise again.
Cover everything with grated cheese and put the finished salad in the refrigerator to soak. Before serving, you can use greens for decoration.
