According to experienced housewives, there is nothing complicated in making homemade sour cream.
All you need is a couple of spoons of starter, a liter of milk and an hour of free time.
Please note: the fat content of milk must be at least 3.5-4.5% - this affects the final taste of the product.
Now that you have stocked up on everything you need, you can get started.
Place a terry towel on the bottom of the pan, place a liter jar on top and fill it with milk.
You need to pour water into the pan itself, so that the jar of milk is completely immersed in it.
Now take the pan to the stove, where you wait until the water boils. The milk should also be properly heated and almost (this is important) boiling.
After this, remove the jar from the pan and cool the milk, leaving it at room temperature.
All that remains is to add the starter - 2-3 spoons of regular sour cream, stir and leave for 45 minutes under a closed lid - until completely cooled.
Strain the sour cream through cheesecloth and you can taste it.
