How to make delicious croutons from a loaf: a recipe that every housewife will appreciate

Very often we have bread left in the kitchen that has already lost its freshness and softness. And in order not to throw it away, you can make croutons from a loaf.

This simple and easy to prepare dish is a great nutritious breakfast in itself, and is also suitable as a base for a hot sandwich or pizza.

It tastes like “grandma’s” pancakes, the bread becomes soft and hot, the smell is very appetizing.

Ingredients

To prepare we will need:

  • eggs – 2 pieces;
  • milk – half a glass;
  • sugar – 1 tbsp;
  • salt – 0.5 tsp;
  • vegetable oil (refined) – 1 tbsp.

Break two chicken eggs into a deep wide plate, add milk, salt, sugar and beat vigorously. To achieve the right consistency, you can warm up the milk a little.

Cut the loaf into slices up to 1 cm thick, they should not be too thick or too thin. Take several pieces of bread (as many as will fit in the frying pan at one time) and dip them into the resulting mixture. It is necessary for the slices of the loaf to be thoroughly soaked, but you should not allow the bread to completely dissolve in the liquid.

Place our future delicious croutons on a frying pan heated with vegetable oil and fry them until golden brown. Then repeat the process until the bread is gone.

Our breakfast can be served with hot morning drinks, with jam or marmalade. Also, delicious croutons from a loaf go well with cheese such as Tilsiter, Parmesan and other types of hard cheese. But if you spread butter on a hot loaf, then you won’t be able to tell it apart from pancakes or fritters.

To prepare a hot sandwich with croutons, you need to put a piece of ham and cheese on the base, add a thinly sliced cucumber and some greens. For this use, it is better to make croutons unsweetened.

According to various sources, the caloric content of delicious croutons from a loaf is about 360 kcal or 1506 kJ, the content per 100 grams of product:

  1. Proteins – 11 grams;
  2. Fats – 15 grams;
  3. Carbohydrates – 55 grams.
