The idea that the refrigerator is the best place to store all foods is wrong. It is not suitable for keeping some fruits, vegetables and sweets fresh.

Anatoly Kryukov, chef, spoke about which products should not be exposed to sub-zero temperatures.

According to the expert, tomatoes, especially unripe ones, should not be placed in the refrigerator.

They should gain flavor in a dark and warm place, and at low temperatures the ripening of the fruits stops, they harden and absorb foreign odors.

The refrigerator is not suitable for apples, potatoes, carrots and cabbage. It is better to place them in a cool, darkened space that is well ventilated.

Anatoly Kryukov emphasizes that chocolate and honey should not be stored in the refrigerator. Condensation will form on the surface of the bar, causing it to become covered with a white coating.

The taste of chocolate will change for the worse. And honey crystallizes quickly at low temperatures, which is a natural process, but limits its use.

In addition, the chef warns against storing citrus fruits with a high content of ascorbic acid in the refrigerator – grapefruits, oranges, lemons.

Previously, we talked about how to speed up the preparation of caramelized onions.
