Mistake number one: defrosting
It happens that dumplings are either forgotten to be put in the freezer before cooking, or they are taken out before the water boils.
In fact, they will cook while frozen. If you take them out to thaw a little, as is often advised, the semi-finished products will stick together or fall apart during cooking.
Error two: temperature
When the water boils, many people, out of habit, turn down the heat and throw the frozen dumplings into the hot water.
But in cooled water, and even on low heat, the dumplings will take longer to cook, which means the dough may become soggy. The correct way to cook them is on medium heat with constantly moderately boiling water.
Mistake three: time
There is no need to cook the dumplings longer than the manufacturer recommends. Usually, 5 minutes is required. After turning off the heat, there is no need to keep the finished dumplings in water either – they are immediately taken out with a slotted spoon.
