Herring under a fur coat appears on festive tables without any special reason. This is a time-tested recipe that is almost impossible to spoil.
There is no point in denying yourself the pleasure. Serve the old salad to the New Year's table in a new form - make a roll!
You will need:
- herring - 150 g;
- eggs - 2 g;
- beetroot - 450 g;
- potatoes - 350 g;
- carrots - 200 g;
- onion - 50 g;
- mayonnaise - 150 g;
- gelatin - 5 g;
- vegetable oil - 2 tbsp.
How to cook
1. Boil eggs, carrots, beets and potatoes in their skins. When ready, peel, cut and chop. Cut the herring.
2. Chop the onion, if it is bitter or hot, you can pour boiling water over it or marinate it in 2 teaspoons of vinegar and a pinch of sugar for 20-40 minutes.
3. Soak gelatin in 100 ml of water at room temperature for 20 minutes, then heat in the microwave, stir, wait until it dissolves. Then pour it over the cooked grated beetroot.
4. Form a roll. Grease the cling film with vegetable oil and place a layer of grated beetroot.
Then comes a layer of mayonnaise, carrots, mayonnaise, onions, mayonnaise, eggs, mayonnaise, herring, potatoes.
Wrap the salad in a roll, secure the edges with cling film, and leave the roll in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours.
Then cut with a sharp knife, garnish with herbs and serve.
