Throughout history, pearl barley porridge has been considered a dish for members of high society.
This is not surprising, given its noble taste and positive effect on the body.
However, the cereal has lost popularity among modern housewives, since everyone values their time and does not want to "mess around" with pearl barley. Not everyone knows that with the help of one technique you can cook decent porridge without soaking.
What does this method consist of?
First, it is recommended to thoroughly wash the pearl barley and, if possible, sort it out. This simple action increases the taste of the porridge many times over.
Then you need to spread a paper towel on a cutting board and lay out the cereal in one layer.
Wait until the pearl barley becomes dry.
After this, you need to heat up a frying pan with oil and send the dried cereal. The fire should be small. Fry the pearl barley until the shade of the cereal resembles caramel.
We add water at a ratio of one to two.
At this stage, the fire is reduced to minimum values. We use a lid and cook the porridge until the water is completely absorbed into the cereal.
Afterwards, you can add any additional ingredients - salt, seasonings, fried vegetables, mushrooms, meat, poultry and even stewed meat.
