Borscht, of course, should be rich, as this is one of the most important qualities of a classic soup.
However, sometimes the fat content of a dish becomes too high.
It is difficult to consume such a soup, especially if you prefer light and healthy food.
But borscht itself is not overly fatty - a lot depends on the cook.
Why is the borscht too fatty?
Classic borscht is usually cooked either on the bone or on red meat. With this approach, the broth turns out nutritious, aromatic and tasty.
A big mistake is that housewives add vegetables fried in vegetable oil to the already fatty broth. Because of this, the soup turns out too heavy and unhealthy.
It is best to fry only the beets, and simply stew the carrots and onions. The most flavorful borscht will be if you scoop up the ready broth for stewing.
Even if you are cooking borscht with chicken, it is better to refrain from adding fried vegetables. To saturate the soup with the necessary percentage of fat, it is better to add a cube of butter.
