Usually rice is cooked as a side dish, porridge is cooked or pilaf is made. All recipes are interesting in their own way, especially if it is something new and untested.
Here is an example of a simple and versatile dish - rice stewed in a frying pan with white cabbage.
To prepare you will need:
- 300 g cabbage;
- 160 g rice;
- 1 medium onion;
- 3 cloves of garlic;
- 3 tsp tomato paste;
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil;
- a pinch of sugar, pepper (black) and salt to taste.
How to cook
The diced onion should be fried in a frying pan with vegetable oil for 5 minutes.
At this time, cut the cabbage into strips and add to the pan with the onion, stir and fry over medium heat for 10 minutes.
When the cabbage is browned, add chopped garlic, tomato paste, stir, and fry for a couple of minutes.
Rinse the rice and add it to the pan. The main thing is to keep the proportions of water and cereal. For 1 part rice, you need to add 2 parts water.
Then add a pinch of sugar, spices, cover with a lid and cook over moderate heat for 20 minutes.
Due to the fact that the rice will be stewed in vegetables, it will turn out very juicy and beautifully colored. The taste of the dish is pleasantly surprising. You can add other vegetables if desired.
