Lent is not a time for culinary delights, but a time set aside to think about the past, the future and the very distant future.
But you want to eat, and your hands involuntarily reach for homemade baked goods. Belyashi or Napoleon cake won't work at this time, but apple pie will please anyone.
To prepare you will need:
- 300 g flour;
- 1/3 tsp salt;
- 150 g sugar;
- 1/3 tsp baking powder;
- 100 ml vegetable oil;
- 3-4 tbsp juice or water;
- 600 g apples;
- lemon juice and sugar - to taste.
How to cook
Start with the filling. Peel the apples, grate them on a coarse grater, fry in a frying pan with a minimum amount of oil, pour in lemon juice, stir and simmer for another 5 minutes.
Add sugar and cook for another 2 minutes, but without a lid. Then leave to cool.
Next, sift the flour, mix with salt, baking powder and sugar. Add vegetable oil and 3 tbsp. juice (water).
Stir and add a little more liquid if necessary.
Do not knead the dough for too long, it should become crumbly.
When ready, divide it into two parts, ¼ and ¾ in size.
Grease a baking dish with oil, place most of the dough on the bottom, spread it out and make the sides.
Place the filling inside, sprinkle with the remaining dough crumbs and put the pie in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, for 25-30 minutes.
Remove the baked goods from the pan only after they have cooled.
Bon appetit!
