However, in most cases, any gravy recipe requires meat. But there is a great way to do without this important component.

What products will be needed?

- 300 ml of liquid (any broth or plain water);
- half an onion;
- about 50 grams of butter;
- 1 large spoon of flour;
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste;
- spices (nutmeg, red or aromatic black pepper, salt) as desired.

How to cook

In a well-heated pan (a sauté pan is ideal for this recipe, but you can also use a convenient frying pan), you will need to bring the butter to a liquid consistency and bring the chopped onion to softness. Carefully add the flour and mix.

Next, you need to pour in the liquid component - water or broth. It is best to add them warm. Stir the components again, wait 1-2 minutes, add spices and salt. If you want the gravy to have a bright and interesting taste, do not forget to add a pinch of sugar.

All that remains is to add tomato paste, stir and wait a few minutes. After cooking, the sauce may become thicker.
