Is it true that a baby's brain is a "blank slate": scientists have found out

Newborn children are often compared to angels, speaking of their natural purity.

Psychologists have long argued that infants have an innate or natural sense of morality, so children are intuitively drawn to goodness.

An international group of scientists doubted this and conducted research, the results of which were published in the journal Nature.

Research

To achieve this, 37 research centers on five continents had to be united.

The experts tested 567 infants who were shown videos.

Previously, scientists showed children puppet shows and then the children chose characters that played the role of assistants.

As part of the new work, the children's preferences changed. But perhaps it was the format of the show that influenced their perception and conclusions.

Conclusions

This was enough to conclude in favor of the theory that the human mind is pure from birth, and all knowledge comes with experience.

But at this stage of research, scientists are in no hurry to make a final conclusion.

There is an opinion that moral qualities of an individual are formed later.

It is possible that the experimental conditions influence the results of the research.

Scientists believe that additional research is needed to settle this issue.
