How to choose the first toy for a baby: the child's development depends on it

From the first days of life, a baby interacts with the world through sensations. The objects around him become guides to the world of forms, sounds and textures.

Therefore, choosing the first toys is not just a whim, but a decision that influences sensory development.

Newborns focus on contrasts rather than pastels. Black and white patterns, geometric shapes, or images of faces attract their attention more than bright colors.

The sounds should be soft, like the rustling of fabric or the quiet ringing of a bell. Harsh melodies frighten and overload the nervous system.

A rattle is a classic option, but its “work” depends on the adult.

The baby will not be able to shake it on his own until he develops a grip. Parents should move the toy in front of the baby's eyes, encouraging him to follow it with his gaze.

Soft cubes with different textures or silicone teethers for gums are also suitable. The main thing is the absence of small parts and toxic materials.

By three months, babies begin to explore objects with their mouths. Rubber duckies for the bath or fabric books with large pictures are safe for this kind of "exploration."

Musical mobiles above the crib develop hearing, but it is better to use them in moderation so as not to disturb sleep.

Remember: toys are not a substitute for communication. Even the most expensive rattle will be useless if the parent does not include it in the game.

Speaking actions (“Do you hear that noise?”), touching surfaces together, or imitating dialogues with dolls create the basis for speech and emotional connections.

Safety is a rule without exceptions. Before buying, it is worth checking certificates, making sure there is no strong smell or sharp edges. Toys should not be heavier than a child can hold, or too complex for his age. Sometimes a simple rag doll or a wooden ring are more effective than electronic gadgets with a dozen functions.

Choosing your first toys is like putting together a puzzle: each piece should correspond to a developmental stage. But the most important element is the involvement of an adult, turning ordinary objects into tools for learning.
